WWE Survivor Series Match Announced: Team Authority Vs. Team Cena

It's Team Authority against Team Cena at Survivor Series on November 23.

In what appears to be the main event of Survivor Series, it was announced on Raw that Team Authority will take on Team Cena in a traditional Survivor Series elimination match. There were no specifics made about the match. Traditional Survivor Series elimination match usually means 5 on 5 although it could be 4 on 4. They still have four weeks to decide how exactly it will go. With no sign of WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, John Cena can't challenge for the WWE Title yet. That's probably going to happen at the Royal Rumble although that wasn't officially announced either. The matchup of Team Authority taking on Team Cena was set up on Raw after Stephanie McMahon wanted Cena to join The Authority. How many times have they tried to do that angle? Cena said no, of course, so Triple H came out to announce the Survivor Series main event. At this point nothing is on the line on the match. It's probably going to main event the show. Is it really a strong enough match to headline a PPV? Not really. However, WWE does have the four weeks to figure that out. Team Cena will obviously consistent of John Cena as the team captain and maybe Dolph Ziggler will be on it. He was seen talking to Cena in a backstage segment, which led to Kane putting himself in a match against Ziggler. It was a match that Kane dominated until Ziggler got a sunset flip pin for the win. Later in the show, Ziggler saved Cena from a two on one situation. Others that could be on Cena's are babyfaces like Sheamus and Big Show. There are several other candidates too. Ryback is back as a face, so it could be him. If Roman Reigns is healthy then he's an option as well. Team Authority will likely consist of Seth Rollins and Kane. Randy Orton may be on the team too although that's not a sure thing. If Triple H feels like wrestling then he'll be on it although he seems comfortable wearing the suit these days. Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury aren't big enough names. Mark Henry could fit in since he just turned heel. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have him as part of the group. Cesaro is a possibility just because he's an awesome in-ring performer although he has lost his last two feuds for midcard titles. Guys like Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt probably won't be a part of it since they should have a singles match based on Wyatt attacking Ambrose at Hell in a Cell. Where does Randy Orton fit into the mix? We don't know yet. He hit Rollins with a RKO in the opening segment on Raw, so his face turn is coming very soon. What they could do is have him team with The Authority saying that they're on the same page and then turn face during the Survivor Series by hitting a RKO on Rollins, then walking out of the match and allowing Cena's team to win. They could also do something where Cena's team has four members, plus a mystery fifth member and it ends up being Orton. That would work too. There are options. Survivor Series takes place on November 23 in St. Louis and you can catch it on WWE Network as well as Pay-Per-View providers.
