With the WWE brand split edging ever closer, there remains a plethora of questions that are yet to be answered. In speculating on the potential answers to these questions, most have looked back to the original brand split for hints. Regarding the championships, both RAW and SmackDown had their own top champion whilst the secondary titles were split between the brands.

Both brands had their own PPVs as well, which took place on a rotating month basis. This worked well, as it meant each brand had around eight weeks to build stories for the show. This was the assumption for PPVs going forward, but word is spreading that this may not be the case come July 19th.

It may not exactly be the definition of a credible source, but a Prowrestling.net reader who attended the 38th Annual Superman Celebration in Illinois claims that Jerry 'The King' Lawler of all people told them that both RAW and SmackDown will be producing their own monthly pay-per-views. The same reader reported that Lawler told him at the 2015 celebration that SmackDown will be going live on Tuesdays.

It is best to treat this with a certain degree of scepticism, but if it does prove to be true then I'm not sure how to feel about it. It seems like a particularly trivial issue, but there is certainly such thing as too much wrestling. Two monthly PPVs, along with the mass of programming already on the Network added to my own desire to watch early 90s events, it may just be too much.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
