Last night's NXT tapings brought several major developments to Full Sail University, including the announcement of a brand new developmental singles title.

As revealed by General Manager William Regal, the NXT North American Championship will debut at TakeOver: New Orleans on April 7th, with six of the brand's biggest names contesting the gold in a ladder match. Adam Cole, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan, and The Velveteen Dream will all be involved, along with new singees Ricochet and EC3, who debuted during the tapings.

The announcement comes just a few days after reports of new Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles for 205 Live. Those titles are expected to be unveiled after WrestleMania 34, but WWE are yet to make an official announcement.

With the North American Championship on the way, TakeOver: New Orleans could now feature as many as five title fights. The NXT, Women's, Tag Team, and North American straps will all be on the line, and UK Champion Pete Dunne could feasibly be in action too.

It remains to be seen where the new title will sit in terms of prestige, but given the quality of competitor, the ladder match promises excitement.
