The Undertaker's name is always the subject of rumors in the months leading up to WrestleMania, and the past few weeks speculated that The Deadman was heading for a huge "dream match" showdown with John Cena this year.

As reported earlier in the week, Vince McMahon has changed his mind on this plan and the match now appears to be off the table.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE are now undecided on who Taker will face in Orlando, and while it's expected to be a Raw Superstar, it won't be Braun Strowman. WWE teased a potential showdown between the duo on this week's Raw, but Meltzer reports they won't be wrestling at Mania 33, and that we'll likely see some interaction between the two in the 30-man Royal Rumble to pay this off.

Speculation had John Cena defeating WWE Champion AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble, and The Undertaker winning the Rumble itself to set up a big WrestleMania title match. A PWInsider report countered this by suggesting the original plan involved Taker going into Mania as WWE Champion, but while The Deadman's opponent remains unclear, it's thought that he won't be challenging for any title this year.
