If you tuned into the 1000th episode of WWE RAW on Monday night then you were privy to the awesome news:
The Rock, The People’s Champion, The Great One will return once again at Royal Rumble in January for a championship match against…well against whoever is the WWE Champion in January. The Rock cooked it, and we smelled it and yay, it was good.
It was an exciting revelation for two reasons: 1, any match The Rock is in is bound to be electrifying (that’s like his whole thing), and 2, could this represent a renewed commitment to the sport by the Brahma Bull? If he wins the title, that then leads me to pose the question ‘does he stay in the WWE, at least for now?’
This revelation has got us excited! We compiled a run-down of the three most likely opponents to face The Rock at next year’s Royal Rumble and we wanted to know your thoughts.
One thing is for damn sure though; January is going to be a great month for the millions…and millions of The Rock’s fans.
The Rock vs. Big Show
It’s been years since The Rock was at the apex of his WWE career, having gone on to enjoy success in Hollywood, but you can’t have forgotten about the several run-ins the Great One had with the Big Show during the Attitude era.
Remember this classic scandal driven feud, aptly centred around the Royal Rumble?
If professional wrestling has proven one thing time and time again, it’s that the fans love a David vs. Goliath match. And even though The Rock stands at 6ft5 and 260lb’s, next to the Big Show, everybody is a David.
There’s not many a superstar that can match The Rock’s sheer in-ring ability and Big Show probably wouldn’t be the one to keep up with the Brahma Bull in terms of athleticism and speed but jesus; at that size, with that terrible, wicked strength, does that necessarily even matter?
Undoubtedly The Rock would look to capitalize on the speed advantage, as even one as mighty as the Great One would have trouble dominating Show in a full on frontal assault. Even under threat, all it takes is that one moment for Big Show to land that W.M.D and it’s over for anyone unfortunate enough to be in the blast radius, People’s Champ or no.
It’d be a great match-up not only for the blend of styles and abilities that the two contrasting performers would bring to the mat, but also for the nostalgia factor. That said, this is a match-up we’ve seen before and I can’t help but think there’s a more suitable opponent in the mix.

We’ve seen Rock vs Cena and Rock vs Show. And while I agree they could do it again and still have a great match, I would love to see Rock vs Punk more than anything. 2 of my personal favourites and something we havent seen before. I’m definitely looking forward to watching Punk as a heel again.
Spot on with this write-up, I really feel this site needs much more attention. I抣l probably be back again to see more, thanks for the information!
i’d like to see dolph ziggler vs the rock..on the basis that dolph loses to the rock.. and hasnt cashed in his contract..until the world heavyweight title match at the royal rumble later on in the evening where he steals in. go dolph!!
I think the Rock should face anyone at the Royal Rumble & win the title, except against John Cena, I feel John Cena should win the Royal Rumble battle royal, & then go on to Wrestlemania, & face the Rock for the title & beat the Rock & then the CHAMP IS HERE, once again.
