WWE Wishes CM Punk "Best Of Luck" In UFC

Tongue in cheek or wholly sincere?

The house that McMahon built has broken its silence on the big news over the weekend in the wrestling and pro fighting worlds. It was short and sweet, and posted as an official statement on the WWE's website. In fact, it was so short, the URL for the page was quite possibly longer than the statement itself. That said, the WWE have commented on CM Punk signing with the UFC, saying the following:
"WWE wishes Phil Brooks (aka CM Punk) the best of luck in his newest endeavor."
With Punk (or should we call him Brooks now?) talking more about his exit from Vince McMahon's wrestling promotion in recent weeks, including letting slip that he was canned on his wedding day, it seems as though the WWE is playing it safe when addressing the issue. That said, could there be a little dig at Punk in the statement, given he stated "luck is for losers" on last night's UFC 181 broadcast? In any case, behind the scenes, things are no doubt playing out a lot differently. A few WWE figures are likely steaming. Punk has garnered a lot of press of late, and much of it has been extremely negative for the WWE. The UFC, meanwhile, is able to swoop in at just the right time and get all sorts of attention over a would-be fighter who has never actually fought in a professional bout. Meanwhile, Punk has a multi-fight deal and is once again all over the news. It's a win for the UFC, a win for Punk (for the time being at least), and a blow to the WWE.
