WWE Wrestlemania 29 Reaction - Did WWE Drop The Ball?

wrestlemania-29 Now that my eyes are a little less sleepy and brain quite a bit more awake I thought it only fair to give Wrestlemania 29 one more chance and in fairness with my wits about me the event was neither better nor worse than when I saw it live. Sure there was no real 'Wrestlemania moment' to speak of but what there was was a bunch of solid top tier matches supported by lower card bouts that were just about fine. Not great (except Hell No Vs Ziggy and Big E.) but fine, 2 star matches that provided substantial entertainment to keep us all awake. For those of you sitting at your desks typing away about how rubbish Wrestlemania was I have two words for you: Shut up. Bashing WWE's pay per views is boring and lazy. Look at the bigger picture. This isn't the Attitude Era, Hell it isn't even the era after that. This is the PG era and for a PG show Wrestlemania was pretty decent in fact it rates about 6 out of 10 which is much higher than many other recent 'Manias. If last night's show had had a match that came close to The Undertaker Vs Shawn Michaels then no one would have been so quick to dismiss it. Yeah Michaels Vs 'Taker and Triple H Vs 'Taker were classics but damn it CM Punk/Undertaker was worth 4 out of 5 stars itself and in my opinion stole the show. As for the other two top matches well I agree they lacked any surprises but they also turned out to be pretty good fun once they got going. Brock Lesnar and Triple H and The Rock and John Cena do not gel in the ring together so the matches they pulled off weren't actually too bad when you consider how incompatible they all are. I'm also tired (already) of people bashing the Mark Henry/Ryback match. Sure it was clunky but what do you expect? You're not going to get a 5 star catch as catch can classic with these two but they were entertaining enough. The post match was daft and the ending sudden but I'd be happy to see the feud continue and would watch them fight again on PPV without complaint. The only match I really hated was Y2J and Fandango. Fandango looked sloppy to me and unworthy of his spot at Wrestlemania. If you can't make magic with Chris Jericho then you just don't have what it takes. I also think that there will be more to the whole John Cena new attitude story and things could get really interesting in the coming weeks. In my opinion WWE didn't drop the ball last night. They delivered a fair Wrestlemania PPV that just wasn't as good as the precious few. Given the terrible build up for the event itself I think they did a pretty good job turning it around. I realise I'm on my own when I say this but I'm actually looking forward to tonight's episode of RAW so please don't let me down Vince.
