WWE Wrestlemania 29: The Rock vs. John Cena - The Rematch That Redefines All

The Rock Seeks Affirmation

The Rock knows he can beat John Cena, he did so last year in fairly convincing fashion at WM 28. And with that win The Rock moved on, returned to Hollywood and we saw very little of him in the WWE Universe. Although he promised to return, with the WWE Championship in mind, his time on television has been extremely limited. And while he did return and has been a big part of the past several, recent pay-per-views, it was never a question of if he would go to Wrestlemania 29: it was only a matter of time. But the larger issue for The Rock is that he, too, also has something to prove. And while it's not redemption or resolution, it's still of great importance to his own self. The Rock seeks to prove, if only to himself, that at his age and with his increasing time away from the WWE, that he can still perform at the highest level. It goes without saying that one must perform at the highest level in order to be the WWE Champion. Does The Rock still have what it takes? He undoubtedly believes he does: he has been passionate and unhinged since his return, eager to get back in the ring with Cena and go one more time, in front of The Millions (aaaand Millions!), in order to prove to us that he can still go all out with this current roster of Superstars. If he is successful, The Rock will prove to us all, and himself, that he is deserving of this most recent championship run.
