6. Shawn Michaels vs Daniel Bryan
The Slammys edition of Raw featured several teases for Michaels vs Bryan at some point in the future. Firstly, we had Shawn winning the double cross of the year award for screwing Bryan out of the Championship. WWE clearly put HBK in this category in order to further enhance his issue with Bryan. It was a timely reminder of the fact that Michaels cost Bryan the WWE title. That set up the award for superstar of the night later in the show. By having Shawn Michaels present this award (and knowing full well that mega popular Daniel Bryan would win), WWE were further pushing the 'heat' between the pair. Bryan came out and HBK begrudingly handed the award over. The WWE Hall of Famer kept a firm grip on the award as he passed it to Bryan, and the pair held a stare for a moment. The tension was clear, and as HBK stepped away, you wondered if a Sweet Chin Music was about to come flying in. In his actual speech, Bryan mentioned his issue with Michaels. "I would be WWE champion right now if it were not for Shawn Michaels," he stated. The simple creative logic for a Wrestlemania feud is there. Best of all, if the match was to happen, it would easily be the best match of 2014. You have the best wrestler in the world right now versus the best wrestler of all time. WWE know they have a great sell with this one. The strongest indication that this match is a "go" came in the closing segment. CM Punk started to beat up Triple H, leading to HBK saving his friend by super kicking Punk. Daniel Bryan then took this as his opportunity to hit his running knee finisher on Michaels. HBK was laid out cold. It was awesome, and the crowd loved it. What happens next? Surely this develops further. Michaels has now been beat up by Bryan on his last two Raw showings. It isn't going to slide.
