WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

A surprisingly solid filler show.

It's not unfair to say that expectations were low for this year's WrestleMania Backlash event. Even for the standards of rematch-filled post-Mania PPVs, this had all the makings of a lazy, forgettable filler show that did nothing but spin its wheels.

But trust WWE to over-deliver on a show that didn't seem to offer much of interest on paper, because this was for the most part a rock solid night of wrestling with two genuinely great, must-see bouts.

Sure, there were also two aggressively mediocre matches that could be seen coming a mile off, but the marquee fights delivered on or above expectations, while mostly improving upon their prior WrestleMania matches.

While it ultimately felt a bit low-key, the smaller card ensured that everyone had time to do their thing without rushing, and after the mile-a-second bombast of WrestleMania, this was actually a little refreshing.

There isn't much here that has grand import for the future - beyond one title change and an amusing masked reveal - but as holding pattern PPVs go it was surprisingly respectable, even if one suspects yet more rematches are coming at Hell in a Cell...

6. Bobby Lashley Vs. Omos

Result: Omos puts Lashley down with a Double-Handed Chokebomb, aided by an interference assist from MVP (8:50).

Rating: Everybody knew what they were getting with this one - a dumb-as-a-brick hoss fight, and while it definitely ran too long, Lashley at least did well to carry Omos.

Lashley bumped hard throughout to sell Omos as an absolute beast, and while Omos certainly isn't great, he does seem to be incrementally improving, so that's nice.

Again, though, it was too long and the finish was a damp squib. Plus, it's tough not to feel sour that Lashley remains trapped in such a lackluster program.

Who among us really wants to see the inevitable rubber match? 4/10
