Roman Reigns is taken a thoroughly well-justified (and well-earned) sabbatical from WWE at the moment, having recently welcomed another set of twins into the world, and he's taken the opportunity to get an utterly stonking tattoo etched in a place that'd otherwise be taking bumps any other time of the year.

Showed off on Tik Tok, the Big Dog's big ink covers almost the entire right side of his back, and is presumably a continuation of the Samoan tattoo (known as a 'tatau', from which the English word derives) which adorns much of his front side.

The elaborate piece is the work of Tampa tatau artist Mike Fatutoa, who has provided similar skin ornamentation for other members of Roman Reigns' family. You can check out his creations here.

Generally, tataus are an expression of pride in one's Samoan culture and heritage. Traditionally, they are transferred to the skin by hammering a tattoo comb, a process many times more painful than the usual tattoo gun found in commercial parlours. It's not know whether Reigns had his fresh art inscribed this way, but he's a tough lad so there's every chance. Let's just hope he's tough enough to endure those already sleepless nights with two babies now he can't lie on his back.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
