It looks as though we've seen the last of Xavier Woods on our SmackDown screens for a while, after the New Day man suffered a suspected Achilles tendon injury at a WWE house show in Sydney this weekend.

Woods was seen limping out of his contest against The Revival in Australia. Fans in attendance reported that he fell to his knees immediately coming off an Irish whip, after which the match's referee called the 'X' symbol.

A video of the incident can be seen here, courtesy of attendee @lauharrier:

After the show, Woods confirmed the injury via his official Twitter account, posting an apology and a short .gif explaining Achilles tendon damage:

There's no further word on how long Woods is expected to be out of action. Surgical procedure for Achilles tendon tears typically require six months before return to play, though athletes rarely fully recover to their previous capacity.

Xavier is almost certain to miss WrestleMania, save a preternatural healing ability. We wish him all the best in his recovery.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
