Don't get me wrong, I love Kevin Bacon; he's a fantastic actor and there's a good reason why he was named by The Guardian as one of the best actors never to have received an Academy Award nomination. The problem for Bacon is that he made a career move early on that might have seemed smart at the same, but has caused him to become perenially remembered for it above all else, and that's his turn as Ren McCormack in Footloose. Somehow, his career as a heart-throb just didn't take off, and instead he began a pretty steady descent for over a decade, until he started picking up supporting roles in prestige pics like A Few Good Men and Apollo 13. In recent years he has enjoyed intermittent success in brilliant roles in films like The Woodsman (for which he deserved an Oscar nomination) and Mystic River, though glory seems to come in fits and starts for the actor. For now, he's deferred to his hit TV show The Following. Which other actors made terrible career choices? Let us know in the comments below?
