If you mentioned to some people out there that Nicolas Cage had once received an Oscar for Best Actor, they'd probably chuckle to themselves and say, "Yeah, right. You kill me with all your jokes, ." And yet, think of their faces during the moment when they suddenly realise that you're not joking at all, especially when you tell them that - once upon a time - Nicolas Cage was an actor of extraordinary talent. "Oh, it was the '90s, you say," fondly recalling a time when anything seemed possible for this guy. Cut ahead to the remake of The Wicker Man, and watch as one most God-awful acting performances in the history of the world is captured on film. Don't get me wrong: Nicolas Cage being insane can be hilarious to watch, and in places here, it absolutely is. But there's 100 minutes of this thing - take away the now infamous bees sequence, and all those "bear running about hitting people" moments, and you've got Nicolas Cage getting through this thing with "I'M DOING THIS TO PAY MY TAX BILL" written on his forehead in huge red letters.
