10 Things That Should Be Banned From Cinemas Immediately

By Brogan Morris /

9. Food

People used to smoke in cinemas. Can you believe that? It would've been a hell of a challenge in the silent days to watch Buster Keaton do his thing through a veil of grey smog. Thankfully, smoking isn't permitted at the movies anymore, but eating is. Now we have sound, it's the crunching of snacks that can hinder enjoyment of a film, with desperately audible snaffling occasionally taking over where the movie's dialogue should be. It doesn't help that gigantic popcorn feed-bags and gargantuan drinks buckets from the cinema's concessions stand are quite possibly limitless, so you're in for the long haul with an Eater - the monotonous, hypnotic sound of their rustling consumption will last the whole film if you're lucky, and carry on into your nightmares if you're not. If food at screenings can't be banned outright, there should at least be a watch list to keep the loudest culprits away from film for life.
