Battle: Los Angeles can almost certainly go down as one of the most disappointing films of 2011. Despite a stellar cast, the film relies too much on big explosions and not enough on plot or character development. While past sci-fi survivalist films have proven themselves to be worthwhile and engaging (Aliens), this pyro fest is the epitome of brainless summer blockbusters. The trailer, however, teases theres more. Admittedly this is by showing us absolutely nothing by the way of plot, which leaves us to naively ask who, what, where, how, why. These questions are never answered, and if they are theyre thrown at us in nonsensically sparse sentences.
