A fairly obvious choice for number one, but a choice I am completely unashamed of. In recent years Telltale Games have, with releases including Tales of Monkey Island, Back to the Future, and more than one Sam and Max game, in part, been responsible for rebooting the "point and click" genre that I grew up loving and after the disappointment of the Jurassic Park game, they have rebounded with VGA's Game of the Year 2012: The Walking Dead. The Walkind Dead features the ever popular branching storylines with player decisions affecting not only affecting trivial things such as who eats the steak but also who lives and who dies. Released in 5 episodes, similar to Telltale's other games, the series has gone from strength to strength with each release being better than the last. The series has genuinely made me fear for Clementine and made me root for the various characters. We visited Herschel's farm and met Glenn before he meets the comic book/TV series group but I'll leave it to you to find out how, when, what, and why those meetings happened and more importantly how your actions affect the outcome of your own personal story. At the end of every chapter you can compare the key decisions you made, with the decisions everyone else who played the games made in the same situations. The Walking Dead is VGA's Game of the Year for a reason. It's incredible. (Although originally released online, via XBLA, PSN Store, and Steam, The Walking Dead was later released on disc. By virtue of the fact its original release was solely online, I have deemed it as within the bounds of my own rules.) Let me know your thoughts! I'm sure I've missed something you loved and I'm sure there are those of you out there who hated some of the games on my list but good or bad, please leave a comment below or on my Twitter: @ehgripo
