10 Trends That Are Killing Video Games

10. Interactive Gaming

When the Wii hit shelves it introduced a new way to game. It seemed futuristic and was treated like the wave of the future. It was the epitome of casual gaming. It introduced a new way to play and a new set of games. With all the excitement the other leading game companies (i.e. Microsoft, Sony) followed suit. They released their own versions of the popular game style. However, the popularity soon dropped but all three continued to push their interactive titles. Examples of such would be the inclusion of "Better With Kinect" on titles such as Mass Effect 3 and The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Their actual features are arbitrary and useless: if this bleeding over effect to serious gaming is unnecessary and mostly unwanted. However, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. The new Wii U seems to be taking a less interactive track. Let's hope game companies will see that gameplay and graphics are more important than the player being the controller.
