There's a regrettable trend in the Assassin's Creed games, whereby they start off brilliantly, hold a fairly steady plateau, and then completely taper off at the end, largely due to an underwhelming climax. It's got to the point that I actively expect to feel dissatisfied at the end, so while I won't be holding my breath for AC4 to actually deliver a cohesive ending, with a new development team there's always hope, right? The last game was particularly egregious with how it handled its denouement; we got a heap of expository information hurled our way, making for a finale that was more dull and procedural than exciting. Furthermore, all it did was ask more questions rather than provide any concrete answers; in AC4, Ubisoft needs to start cleaning things up and make it clear that they're not just coming up with ideas as they go along, which I strongly suspect they are.
