If Microsoft is going to proceed with this strategy, they had best make sure that their servers are absolutely faultless and well protected against hackers. We can all remember the infamous PSN outage for over 3 weeks back in mid-2011, which meant players could only play games offline, but hey, at least they were able to do that. Imagine if Microsoft implement this ridiculous online-only idea, and then their servers crash or are hacked - and with that infrastructure, it will be a prime target for hacking groups. If a hack occurred on the catastrophic level of PSN's, it would mean not being able to play your Xbox for 3 and a half weeks; your console not being a brick is basically contingent on everything working on Microsoft's end. Besides, what if in 30 years I want to get my Xbox 720 out of the loft, but wait, Microsoft's servers aren't running anymore? Well, I guess I'm screwed, then.
