11 Sports That Aren't Contested At The Olympics (But Should Be)

9. Rugby Union

The sport of rugby sevens (which, surprisingly, features seven men as opposed to fifteen) will be making its debut at the 2016 games, which could be beneficial as a stepping stone for the future addition of the full-fledged game. Popular across the globe, it€™s hard to understand why rugby hasn€™t been contested at the Olympics since 1924. Back then, the game struggled to attract teams, which wouldn€™t be a problem nowadays, given that 80 teams are competing for 8 available places at the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Though union is truly an international game, it€™s hard to say the same of rugby league, given that its popularity is almost exclusive to Yorkshire, Lancashire and a few Australasian countries. One day, perhaps, it might be viable candidate, but for now, union is king, and deserves a place at the world€™s greatest sporting event, if only to witness the priceless sight of New Zealand€™s All Blacks performing the haka on an Olympic podium.
