Speed wins games.
Regardless of whether you're Jose Mourinho or Sam Allardyce, you can't get anywhere in the Premier League these days without relying on pace, particularly as defenders bulk up and open play is anything but. So even the most technically and tactically gifted of sides need to rely on their effectiveness on the break, and that's not to mention the value in taking on players and out-stripping them thanks to a deft flick and some swift heels.
It won't be surprising to most to see the likes of Alexis Sanchez mentioned in these run-downs of the fastest players: Arsene Wenger has always considered pace to be as big a weapon as the ability to pass well, and a good number of his first team will be close to the quickest speeds clocked in any Premier League season. Surprisingly though, Arsenal might have the quickest overall squad, but their top sprinter is nowhere near the top of the pile.
With data emerging for all of the Premier League's fastest players from all 20 clubs, and the highest speed they were clocked at, there are some surprising revelations. Newcastle ranked high - which is unsurprising for a team set up to break - and it looks like there's a shift away from having as many pacey players in the top four targeting teams.
But who picked up the title of fastest player at your club?
20. Moussa Sissoko - Newcastle United
Rating: 21.93 MPH
Inevitably the subject of transfer speculation, Sissoko is Newcastle's newest biggest asset and it's not hard to see why. He's lightning quick, able to go past defenders and has an eye for a goal: incredible to think the Magpies got change from £2m from Toulouse for him.
