Brendan Rodgers had already pressed ahead in his pursuit of a new striker before the news broke that Luis Suarez was wanted by Bayern Munich, as he wanted to ease the burden placed on the Uruguayan's shoulders for the second half of the season. He ended up signing Daniel Sturridge of Chelsea but another forward he had in mind was Paris Saint-Germain's Kévin Gamiero. Gamiero has fallen down the pecking order at PSG since the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Liverpool, who have been tracking the striker for a number of months now, are believed to be weighing up the possibility of bringing him in on loan this month with a view to a permanent deal. Gamiero came to prominence during his days at Ligue 1 side Lorient when he scored 24 goals in the 2010/11 season, and has since scored 19 times for PSG following his move in 2011.
