Newcastle Transfers: 5 Strikers Alan Pardew Still Needs To Sign

By Joseph Dempsey /

1. Ricky van Wolfswinkel

Sporting Lisbon's Ricky van Wolfswinkel has alerted a number of clubs to his potential availability by scoring 11 times already this season. Sporting's current dire financial straits mean the Portuguese outfit would be wise to listen to offers for the Dutchman too. Apparently, Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the forward, and are set to rival Newcastle for his signature. Lisbon would reportedly listen to offers starting at £10 million but would also prefer an offer involving a part-player-part-cash exchange as their squad is currently thin on the ground. Alan Pardew was hoping to beat his rivals to the punch with an £8 million bid last week, which was knocked back, and he may now be tempted to match Sporting's valuation of the player in order to add more attacking potency to his squad. Wolfswinkel's contract with Lisbon still has another three-years to run, meaning any suitor would have to be prepared to pay big bucks for his services. Pardew will face stiff competition however, with Norwich also believed to be interested. Source(s): MetroNewcastle Fans - which forward do you think Alan Pardew should sign?
