4. The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon (Story 214, 2011)
Its not often I can watch a TV program and notice, immediately, that a particular image is going to become especially iconic. But in this story, the shot of the Apollo astronaut standing in the lake, thats an iconic shot. Thats a shot that begs for a story to be told and, thankfully, the story we get just about lives up to the potential of that shot. Now Im not going to lie. The story has troubles and the concept that the Silence have been hanging around on Earth for thousands of years really doesnt make a lot of sense. But the Silence themselves are creepy and interesting, and I truly loved Mark Sheppards performance as an FBI agent who really, seriously needs to become a permanent companion.
