10 Worst Reasons Wrestling Feuds Started

10. Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio Battle For Custody Of Dominic

Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio could be considered the kind of pro wrestlers who were best-served by just putting them in a ring and letting them do their thing. Case in point, a match between the pair at WCW's Halloween Havoc 1997 pay-per-view is still being talked about today. WWE, however, viewed things somewhat differently.

For the purpose of a 2005 feud between both men, Guerrero was the villain of the piece. Previously, Eddie and Rey had worked well as tag-team partners, but they were split up in time for the race towards SummerSlam. There, the pair would meet in a Ladder Match, but it wasn't a title belt dangling above the ring.

No, it was custody of Rey's son Dominic that the world class performers were fighting for. That's right, Guerrero claimed he had a secret Mysterio didn't want anyone to know, dropping the bombshell that Dominic was actually his biological son.

This was crudely shoe-horned into the situation just so Mysterio and Guerrero could have a Ladder Match at SummerSlam. It was pretty distasteful, taking away from the actual talent of the tandem. Although Latino Heat has to take some of the flak from this, since it was his idea to introduce the soap opera element originally.
