5 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night’s WWE NXT (April 22)

A great night at the Full Sail.

Last week's offering from NXT, WWE's developmental territory and all-but Third Brand, was solid if not spectacular. Stellar main event aside, the action was workmanlike, serving to fill in minor gaps in storylines and draw out the growing tensions between champions and challenges, in the well-measured pace for which NXT has become known. This week's show served to kick things up a notch. While the night still contained some matches that served no purpose other than to remind us that certain people were still on the roster, the April 22 edition of NXT delivered in two key areas. There were more stakes, in the form of the excellent Women's #1 Contenders match, the establishing of Sasha Banks' next challenger giving the show a strong sense of purpose. And the night also provided some excellent high spots. There were one or two strong, lasting images to take home, mostly provided by Sami Zayn, all which served to make NXT fans chomp at the bit, the thought of having to wait one more month for an NXT special being deeply frustrating.
