How WWE personnel are reacting to Stephanie McMahon's sudden departure as CEO.
Stephanie McMahon formally announced her resignation as WWE Chairwoman and CEO on Tuesday evening, doing so less than a week after her father, Vince, returned to the promotion's Board of Directors as Executive Chairman.
The now-former Chairwoman stated on Twitter that she "looked forward to cheering on WWE from the other side of the business," framing the departure as an extension of her 2022 hiatus. Nick Khan, her former co-CEO, now holds the position on his own.
Fightful Select notes, too, that Stephanie's husband, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, remains WWE Chief Content Officer and is still managing talent and live events.
Stephanie was a well-liked figure backstage in the promotion. Fightful spoke to several WWE talents about the situation, with the reaction being one of confusion. Talent wondered what the situation "really" meant for Stephanie and Khan, with the general consensus being one of uncertainty.
Perhaps prophetically, one talent stated their hope that WWE's sale was on the horizon following Stephanie's resignation. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is now believed to have agreed a deal to purchase the market-leading promotion.
Stephanie and Khan had been appointed co-CEOs when Vince McMahon resigned in disgrace last July, doing so amidst allegations of sexual misconduct.
