Charlotte Flair was revealed as the third overall pick in WWE's 2021 Draft on Friday's episode of SmackDown.

The reigning Raw Women's Champion then gatecrashed the show by attacking Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks following the night's main event. Flair later posed with her title and stared down Becky Lynch (who was posing with the SmackDown belt on the announce desk).

Wrestling Inc are reporting that Charlotte was brought to SmackDown at the behest of FOX executives. Officials at the TV network specifically asked for Flair during talks, and WWE gave them what they really wanted. That, it appears, is the main reason why Raw's reigning champ has switched brands.

There's no word quite yet on exactly when Charlotte will drop the red strap, but it makes sense to believe that she'll do so soon. Or, perhaps WWE will keep it on Flair long enough to book one of those 'Champion vs. Champion' bouts with Becky at Survivor Series.

That's well over a month away though, so they'd have some explaining to do on Monday nights.

In short, WWE wanted to appease FOX by giving SmackDown another major star. Charlotte was the one they demanded.
