Why Rey Mysterio Missed WWE Raw Last Night

Rey Mysterio's absence from last night's episode of WWE Raw was notable, as the promotion had spent much of the week leading into the show promoting a bout pitting the lucha libre legend against recent returnee Veer Mahaan.
This didn't end up happening. Instead of Rey, Mahaan faced the younger Mysterio, Dominik, on the show, putting him away in around two minutes before beating him down after the bell - to the extent that Dominik was stretchered out of the building.
The situation can't be classified as a bait and switch, however. Nor can it be considered deliberate false advertising.
Per Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Rey missed last night's episode of Raw due to an undisclosed medical issue. Rather than changing their minds, the promotion found itself in a position where Rey became unavailable to them, resulting in the decision to put Dominik in his place.
While there is currently no word on how long, exactly, Rey will be out for, Meltzer stated that WWE will probably book his match vs. Veer one or two weeks from now.
Mahaan made his protracted return to Raw on last week's show, attacking both Mysterios. This set up last night's clash.
