I know, I know, this one was really unlikely and a total pipe dream on my part, but there had been rumours leading up to WrestleMania that John Cena would end up turning heel, mimicking the famed Stone Cold heel turn at WrestleMania 17. Given how people were already disappointed that WWE just recycled last year's main event (so much for "once in a lifetime", eh?), Cena turning bad would have been a great way for it to be memorable, and would have seen a huge surge of interest in a wrestler who most "smarks" dismiss as a modern-day Hulk Hogan (enormously popular but displaying very little talent in the ring). Even after Cena won the match, there was ample opportunity for him to turn; when celebrating and confronting The Rock, he could easily have given him an Attitude Adjustment, though they opted for the far safer, boring handshake and hug. Of course, turning Cena heel would be a huge risk given that it would result in reduced merchandise sales and lots of crying kids, but it's the sort of daring move that would have slightly restored my faith in the WWE product.
