10 Best Animated Comic Book Films Of The Decade

8. Avengers Confidential: Black Widow And Punisher

Sometimes you don’t need grand narratives of universal annihilation to make a good comic book movie. Classic example is this quintessential action adventure ride. Any story following Frank Castle and Natasha Romanoff can only mean extreme violence and a lot of dead bodies. And rest assured this one delivers aplenty on that front.

However the beautiful thing about this film is the subtle emotional threads expertly sown into a narrative heavily centred on bloodshed and fury. Both the Punisher and Black Widow’s past demons were brought up, uniquely humanizing their otherwise emotionless characters. The final sequence featuring a guest appearance from the Avengers was the perfect icing on the cake.
