10 Comic Book Supervillains Who ACTUALLY Deserve A Solo Movie

Forget about Morbius - these are the villains who deserve the spotlight.

Thor Ragnarok Loki
Marvel Studios

When it comes to the comic book movie genre, the majority of films tend to focus on the heroes of each respective universe and while, for the most part, these stories are great, as a result the more villainous characters are often relegated to being the antagonist of a single tale, rather than the championing their own adventures.

However, with the likes of 2016's Suicide Squad, Venom and the upcoming Joaquin Phoenix Joker film, this trend is clearly on the way out, but there are plenty more charismatic criminals, some of which who have already been well established in the movies, whose individual journies, if just given the chance, would fit perfectly into the on-screen universe of either DC or Marvel.

And, as proven by the aforementioned Suicide Squad, if watching your protagonist attempt to destroy the universe isn't appealing, then you can always frame the villains as unwilling heroes, rather than their usual mass-murdering lunatic selves, as many of the comics have also done.

Anyhow, here are our top picks for the scoundrels best suited to having their stories adapted to the big screen.

10. Bane

Thor Ragnarok Loki
DC Comics

Bane has had some... questionable on-screen appearances with the famously awful Batman Forever incarnation and the interesting, yet completely inaccurate, Tom Hardy version seen in The Dark Knight Rises.

Contrary to the movies, Bane isn't just a brute, and is, in reality quite smart, because it takes more than just brawn to break the likes of the Bat.

Giving Bane his own film would allow for an exploration of a much more accuate version of a character, one that wouldn't ignore his aforementioned intelligence, and with stories like Knightfall and the recent I Am Bane arc seen in Tom King's Batman run, the character has a very interesting history to draw on, and would be a villain that would really give the on-screen Bruce Wayne a real run for his money.
