10 Superhero Movie Clichés Everybody Secretly Loves

9. The Hero Loses Powers Or Access To Weapons

We all love to see heroes at their best, adorned with their spectacular gadgets and powers. It's what makes them superheroes instead of simply heroes. Seeing Superman easily lift an apartment complex, watching Spider-man dodge bullets with unbelievable agility, and witnessing Wolverine heal from impossible injuries are often why we come to the theatre. Time after time, though, these abilities are taken away from them.

Films such as Spider-man 2, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Wolverine place the titular characters into such situations, forcing them to overcome challenges without their typical advantages. Though it happens often, seeing these characters work as normal people shows their tenacity and commitment, their desire and will.

We enjoy seeing characters face adversity and generally, the more they face, the more rewarding the triumph. We may not like how often superhero films turn to this trope to increase the danger but it seems that every time they do, we can't help but love it.
