Avengers: Infinity War - 10 Ways Thanos Could Be Defeated

7. Hela Betrays Him

Thanos' obsession with death is more than just a metaphysical fascination. Death in the Marvel Universe is personified as a woman. Thanos is in love with this woman and wants to prove his love by killing everything in existence.

No character like this has even been hinted at in the MCU and seems unlikely to appear. However, she may be getting a replacement.

The end of the recent Unworthy Thor miniseries saw Thanos locking lips with Hela, the Norse goddess of the underworld. With Marvel's comics resembling their movies more and more, it could be that this is foreshadowing the two forming a partnership in Infinity War or possibly Hela taking the place of the MCU's personification of death who Thanos tries to seduce with wanton destruction.

Villains being villains though, there's a good chance that Hela could end up betraying Thanos, taking the Infinity Gauntlet for herself and maybe even killing him. This would again play into the idea of Infinity War having an immediate sequel, one in which Hela is the main villain.

Hopefully, Thor: Ragnarok might drop some hints as to the validity of this theory or give a suggestion as to the future of Cate Blanchett's character at least.
