First Venom Trailer Doesn't Show Venom, And That's Totally Fine

The Lethal Protector has arrived. Just don't expect to see the suit for a while.

The trailer for Sony's Venom movie finally released today, and it's fair to say that, as far as trailers go, this one's a bit of a teaser.

With an ominous narration provided by Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock, the trailer dives right into the interior of the villainous Life Foundation, a group that - in the comics - captured Brock to extract his Symbiote. Riz Ahmed looms over the suit as it's hauled around in a convoy, and Michelle Williams - who plays Brock's onetime partner Ann Weying - also makes a brief appearance.

Building upon past comments that the film would follow the Lethal Protector storyline from the comics, we're also treated to a nice vignette of the Golden Gate Bridge, showing that Eddie - much like his comics self during the David Michelinie storyline - has holed up in San Fran, potentially as an anti-hero.

The main question surrounding the teaser, however, pertains to the actual Venom suit itself. It never shows off the suit in full (although you can see its inky presence at the end), and while it would've made for a nice (read, terrifying) shot to end on, the fact it isn't there is completely fine. This is a teaser after all, and the less we see of the suit, the better. At least until the film releases proper.
