9. The Death Of Charles Xavier

One of the big signs for understanding the timelines in the X-Men films is whether Charles Xavier is played by Patrick Stewart or James McAvoy; or, more succinctly, whether he's bald or not. Those walls come crashing down in Apocalypse as early set photos already show the younger actor having his floppy hair shaved, to the outcry of women everywhere. Which suggests this particular plot point won't happen, but anyway: the whole Age Of Apocalypse debacle gets sparked in the first place by Professor Xavier's son, Legion, travelling back in time and attempting to kill Magneto before he can become the leader of the Brotherhood Of Mutants the X-Men are always fighting. Since Legion picked a moment when Charles and Erik were still best buds, Xavier dived in front of the blast meant for Magneto. Without Professor X's guiding light, everything goes to crap. Besides overstating Xavier's influence, it's a plot point that's way too similar to the bad future in Back To The Future 2. Apocalypse is an eighties period piece, but still....
