What a way to spread a rumour...

Another Game Of Thrones actor might be about to make her debut in the X-Men movie franchise, if the Internet rumour mill is to believed. Maisie Williams has been recently linked with a role in main X-Men universe spin-off New Mutants - playing werewolf-like Wolfsbane - and she's now responded to those links.

Well, she's half responded, which has sent the rumour-mongers into a spin, because she hasn't denied it, and her vague response seems to suggest she might be officially talking about a role in the film.

Williams spoke to Entertainment Weekly to ask whether she's been cast as Wolfsbane in light of Hitfix's older rumours and she offered the following intriguing response: "I can€™t say much about it at all, but I would absolutely love to be a part of it, to be a part of the Marvel family. New Mutants looks absolutely incredible and I€™ve always loved the idea of spin-offs and Joshua Boone is incredibly talented. So, yeah, sign me up."

However you spin that, it's interesting. She's either issuing a come and get me plea - which Boone and Fox would be mad to ignore based on Williams' existing brand power alone - or her vagueness suggests someone has already gone and got her.

Wolfsbane's powers - unsurprisingly - allow her to transform into a wolf (or into a hybrid of wolf and girl), though she has at times had difficulty balancing the feral characteristics of her lupine genes. She also has emotional baggage and is easily one of the most intriguing and complex creatures in the New Mutants line.

Hitfix's original report mentioned that Wolfsbane will be joined on the New Mutants team by Magik, Storm, Cannonball, Mirage and Sunspot with James McAvoy's Professor X still involved. The second script has been turned in by Boone and it's widely believed that New Mutants will land in one of the slots reserved by Fox for Untitled Marvel Movies in 2017 and 2018.
