10 Mediocre Movies That Actually Deserve Sequels

7. John Carter (2012)

url-3 Poor John Carter. Despite all the cash that Disney pumped into the production, it just didn't hit the right note with audiences, and the whole movie has been pretty much relegated to the history books as a colossal flop. Fact is, despite its flaws, John Carter had a lot going for it - the production design was some of the best we'd seen in years, and you could definitely see how much of a passion project the thing had been for director Andrew Stanton. Shame that the story failed to resonate, huh? And Taylor Kitsch's dullish lead performance certainly didn't help to sway movie-goers in favour of all things Carter. Yet there's certainly fun to be had with this Mars-based fantasy adventure, and now that all the backstory has been filled in, there's also a chance to show audiences the kind of movie that this one should've been. Though, the odds of that happening are likely zero, given that Stanton - the man who seemed most connected with John Carter in the first place - has moved on to Finding Nemo2.
