10 Most Cringeworthy Performances By Otherwise Great Actors

6. Marlon Brando - The Island of Doctor Moreau (1996)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iiA0pAWAMQ Have you ever watched a movie so downright bizarre and so inherently ludicrous that you're convinced it has to be a joke? Here's one that's bound to trump whatever you're thinking of right now: The Island of Doctor Moreau, made in 1996 on an incredibly low budget, with the one and only Marlon Brando in the leading role, based on the classic novel by H.G. Wells about a mad scientist who likes to create horrifying animal hybrids. I can't really put into words what's happening here, because it doesn't makes sense, and I don't know why Marlon Brando is acting in this (nor can I understand why he's acting the way he is). It's nuts. The whole thing is freakin' nuts. And given that this was one of the legendary actor's final roles before he passed away... well, he could not have picked a worser performance to be remembered by. One reviewer wrote that he's playing "the Queen of England" in this movie, a perfect description that simply cannot be surpassed. Anyway, check out the video above, which shows the scene where the Doctor and his deformed Mini-Me version play on a couple of pianos whilst the camera spins around like a nutcase.
