10 Most INAPPROPRIATE Scenes In Kids Movies

NSFK - Not Safe For Kids.

Lion King - Inappropriate

Let's have a moment of appreciation for everyone involved in making children and family films. Whether you're a parent, teacher, babysitter, or just have some younger annoying relatives, most of us have felt the benefit of plonking a kid down in front of a movie to nab ourselves just a moment of peace.

But, while family movie time might be a good moment of relaxation, it also means that grown adults still have to sit though these flicks. This is where the movie magic makers still have your back - they often slip in little gags just for parents that are just subtle enough to go right over children's heads.

Kids' films are also pretty good at introducing difficult topics that otherwise would lead to some pretty long car rides: how many protagonists end up losing parents in these things, or grapple with crises of conscience? Sometimes, though, these things really toe the line between gentle introductions, and downright scarring material.

So what movies had those moments that had parents inhaling sharply through their teeth? What jokes did we completely miss the first time round? Let's find out...

10. Dick Jokes - The LEGO Batman Movie (2017)

Lion King - Inappropriate
Warner Bros.

Batman just does really well as an animated character; just look at the success of the DC Animated Originals. Even then, few were prepared for the artistry of The LEGO Batman Movie. Sure, The LEGO Movie Universe does a spectacular job of appealing to a huge audience – from kids to their grandparents – because of the universality of LEGO. But a spin off focusing on Will Arnett’s comically broody masked hero was risky.

Luckily, LEGO Batman was just as good at balancing bright, colourful, stylised animation with a surprisingly dark and complex storyline that any generation could enjoy. Is LEGO Robin the most endearing character to come out of film in the last twenty years? Most certainly. The popularity of the figure on merchandising proves it. You get this one, Capitalism.

That being said, LEGO’s on screen ventures by necessity have their moments that fly right over the heads of younger audiences and illicit meagre chuckles from the older generation.

The one that sticks out the most is a flippant comment from Bruce Wayne's first interaction with his future sidekick, with the young Richard Grayson vying desperately for adoption by the billionaire:

Robin: My name's Richard Grayson... but all the kids at the orphanage call me Dick.
Batman: Well, children can be cruel.

To the innocent, all things are pure... but even this quick quip surely made parents everywhere raise an eyebrow.
