5. Batman's Campiness Has Been Defeated

Batman has been fighting campiness for decades. Even though Tim Burton's movies were more on the side of dark, macabre and sinister, they were undoubtedly campiness in their own regard with the operatic atmosphere and gothic costume designs. Regardless of whether Batman Return was camp or not, nobody can deny that the 60's version of the camp Batman returned with a vengeance in Batman & Robin. We have now had three Nolan Batman films with no campiness in site. The realistic and gritty tone of the films has become something that other films, particularly in the superhero genre, now aspire to. Batman is no longer "Holy rusted metal! Batman", he is The Dark Knight. Any new TV show couldn't be further away from the last live-action effort.
