4. It Would Allow Big Story Archs

The Dark Knight Rises is a long film. The total running time is 165 minutes, which is long for a summer blockbuster. It was rumored that additional scenes would be available on the Blu-Ray release of the film, but this rumor has since been debunked. Even with the 165 running time, there are more parts of the story that haven't been told. One of the advantages of television over film as a story telling medium is that it allows for big story archs. Big story archs would be very beneficial for Batman stories as it would allow multiple villains with their own agendas to be operating at the same time. It would help to show why Batman is the world's greatest detective. Why couldn't we see The Long Halloween run for five hourlongs in the month of October, with all the twists and turns of that story?
