10 Things You Need To Know About The New DC Characters

10. Aquaman€™s Origin Story

So most superheroes have a pretty interesting origin story and Aquaman€™s is no different, although he has several. Real name Arthur Curry; he is the half-human son of Tom Curry and Atlanna. It is revealed that his mother is the exiled queen of Atlantis and he is the heir to the throne, something he will one day have to take up. Atlantean assassins later assassinate his father, which forces him to return to the city and take up his mantle. In the original origin story his father used to force him to play with deadly animals as a child, locking him in dangerous situations with sharks, electric eels, octopuses and all other range of aquatic animals to force his son to hone his gift of marine telepathy. In the cinematic universe, it€™s easy to imagine that the filmmakers will go with the character€™s rebooted origins from the Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline where Aquaman is an heir to the Atlantean Royal Family. In that story, his mother Atlanna is impregnated by the immortal wizard Atlan, which would fit in neatly with the magical tones the DC Cinematic Universe is reportedly looking at implementing.
