1. Cloverfield

Another pretty good film on our list, Cloverfield was shrouded in secrecy right up until its release. With viral marketing at its epicentre, people everywhere were asking exactly just "what was this film and what was it about?" Of course, this has now become a staple of producer JJ Abrams, but back in 2007 it was something audiences were not expecting. With such hype and intrigue, it was difficult for this very entertaining film to match expectations. The trailer, however, is a work of genius. In less than two minutes we're given likeable characters, a realistic party and the Statue of Libertys head smashing up a street before landing in front of a handheld camera. But its the fact that we were given no title for the film at the beginning or the end that cements it as not only one of the coolest trailers ever, but one that may have just been too good for its feature. http://youtu.be/IvNkGm8mxiM Did we miss any other trailers that made their finished films look bad by comparison?
