10 Trailers That Were Way Better Than Their Films

9. Battle: Los Angeles

Battle Los Angeles Battle: Los Angeles can almost certainly go down as one of the most disappointing films of 2011. Despite a stellar cast, the film relies too much on big explosions and not enough on plot or character development. While past sci-fi survivalist films have proven themselves to be worthwhile and engaging (Aliens), this pyro fest is the epitome of brainless summer blockbusters. The trailer, however, teases there€™s more. Admittedly this is by showing us absolutely nothing by the way of plot, which leaves us to naively ask €œwho, what, where, how, why€. These questions are never answered, and if they are they€™re thrown at us in nonsensically sparse sentences. The trailer shows us this films best bits with exceptional music that heightens suspense and dread. Strangely apt given what we eventually saw. http://youtu.be/tAdm9ssE6gk

As a pretty nerdy guy, I've loved film and television since I was a wee lad. Growing up in Ireland, The Den was the show to watch with it playing Batman The Animated Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation and everything in between. I have an MA in Radio and Television Production and have written for various sites, hope you enjoy my articles/lists for What Culture!
