The story of Herb Abrams may not be one that general wrestling audiences are aware of but if there is one thing that Vice's Dark Side of the Ring taught anyone who saw it, it's that the man's life and career were utterly wild, and would make for some ridiculous cinema.

Abrams was a wrestling promoter who founded the Universal Wrestling Federation (UWF). While the show was filled to the brim with top tier talents, such as Bruno Sammartino, Cactus Jack, Bob Orton and more, it was an utterly chaotic mess, as payments were ducked left right and centre and the booking was atrocious. Additionally, the wild antics of the man in charge were full of cocaine and misbehaviour. Bringing this story to life would make for a thrilling movie, that would likely feel akin to The Wolf of Wall Street, but in the world of wrestling.

The perfect choice to take on the mantle of Herb Abrams, is that of Jackie Earle Haley. This decorated actor has such a unique look, and his smaller frame would make him feel like a big fish in a small pond, as Abrams was himself, after he attempted to delve into the world of sports entertainment with zero experience.
