Previous Film: Bad Boys II delivered everything audiences should expect from a Michael Bay film: insane car chases, beautifully filmed action, juvenile sex jokes, casual sexism and so on. In addition, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence's bromantic double act still worked, and the R-rating allowed Bay the sort of edgy production he rarely bothers with anymore. It's not great art, but it is ridiculously entertaining. Why It Needs To Happen: Because Will Smith's career hasn't exactly been flourishing lately, and can anyone even remember anything Martin Lawrence has been in over the last few years? This could revive each of their box office profiles and give Michael Bay another chance to crank out some wild, adult action. Current Status: Last summer, Martin Lawrence claimed that the movie had been written and casting had even begun, though considering the lack of an official announcement from Columbia over 6 months later, it's tough to really believe this. Will the movie probably happen? Yes, but when? Who knows.
