Previous Film: When M. Night Shyamalan could still direct his way out of a paper bag, he'd sometimes come up with a movie like Unbreakable, a brilliantly suspenseful little thriller that leads up to an unforgettable twist ending. Basically, all of the writer-director's better instincts distilled into 106 minutes of entertainment. Why It Needs To Happen: Because Shyamalan desperately needs a project to restore his reputation, and considering that the end of the first film set up an inevitable showdown between Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson's characters, it pretty much seems like a no-brainer. Current Status: After the original movie began to sell well on DVD (following a decent if underwhelming box office run), Shyamalan considered a sequel and continues to talk it up to this day. Jackson is also on board, but the problem is that no studio wants to take a chance on Shyamalan anymore with big-budget fare, given his infamous reputation. Even if the movie ended up being good, there's a solid chance it would still bomb.
