5 Awesome Story Arcs That Must Be Part Of DC's Cinematic Universe

1. Blackest Night

blackestnight Although it would undoubtedly need to be simplified due to the massive amount of characters in the comic book arc (some of whom are from alternate universes and such), Blackest Night would make for an absolutely fantastic big-screen spectacle. It would need to be a long way down the line, as it would require an established Green Lantern legacy in the new DC cinematic universe and there would need to have been some key deaths but, as a long-term aim and project, it's something that should definitely be considered. The premise of Blackest Night is that, following a war between the Green Lanterns and the Sinestro Corps, each team is informed of a prophecy that states more corps will emerge and that they will all need to join forces in order to defeat the Black Lanterns - a corps of black ring-bearing heroes and villains who have died and been brought to life as undead monsters via the gift of the black ring. The story arc saw on-panel returns for a plethora of dead heroes and villains and would make for a superb big screen spectacle combining the superhero genre with the horror genre, as horrifying super-powered zombies attacked from every corner of the universe. Ultimately, all of the other corps combine to defeat the Black Lanterns using the white light of life, which could even serve as a way of bringing dead characters back to how they once were (meaning that the Death of Superman film wouldn't actually have to mean that Superman was gone for good...).
